![]() ![]() ![]() Mel is hilarious and smart but also isn't necessarily always in the right, which I appreciated. The best way to describe this book in a sentence would probably be "What if Bella Swan actually had a human friend who cared about her enough to notice all the weirdness going on?" The book is from the point of view of a girl, Mel, whose friend Cathy ends up falling in love with a vampire - which is completely unacceptable in Mel's eyes. Just the idea of this book was enough to get me excited: it's an affectionate parody of not only Twilight, but the general paranormal romance YA craze that's been dominating the market the last few years. I've been a fan of Justine Larbalestier's ever since her last book, Liar, and neither she nor her wonderful cowriter Sarah Rees Brennan disappointed me. ![]()
